Newcomers/Visitors

IMPORTANT Equine Flu

Any horses and ponies hunting with the South Shropshire should adhere to the latest recommendations for equine flu.  All horses and ponies must be vaccinated within the last 6 months and not in the last 7 days to come hunting with us.  This also applies to Visitors.

Therefore, subscribers must have proof of vaccination on them when hunting i.e. Copy or photograph of the relevant page in the passport.

We very much welcome both newcomers and visitors throughout the season.  The South Shropshire hunts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from November until mid March.  Autumn trail hunting starts in August and continues until the opening meet in early November.

Newcomers
If you are newcomer to hunting, your first day out may seem a little daunting but we hope to guide and help you to ensure you have a happy and safe day out with us.  If you would like to join us for a day, please contact the Hon Secretary who will be able to answer all your questions.  We also suggest that you read our etiquette page and the glossary of terms to help you feel a little more prepared before your first day.

Visitors
We are always delighted to welcome visitors, please contact the Hon Secretary if you would like to join us for a day and receive information on meets, parking and caps as well as the possibility of finding a reliable local hireling.

Car and Foot Followers

Just because you are not mounted it does not mean you can’t enjoy the thrills of a day out hunting and we welcome anyone who would like to follow hounds.  There is a modest cap payable at the meet and it would be appreciated if you could introduce yourself on arrival. It may be useful to look at our etiquette page to learn more.
